OBS is still the standard. Start simple: 4 scenes, stable bitrate, clean audio chain, and clear labels for every source.
Core Setup Checklist
- Install OBS Studio and update to latest
- Add scenes: Starting Soon, Main, BRB, Ending
- Set encoder and bitrate based on your GPU/upload
- Configure microphone filters (noise suppression/gate/compressor/limiter)
- Add alerts/chat/widgets carefully (avoid visual clutter)
- Record a local test and review VOD
Recommended Defaults
- Encoder: NVENC H.264 (or AV1 if supported)
- Bitrate: 6000 Kbps for 1080p60 on Twitch
- Audio bitrate: 160 Kbps stereo
- Keyframe interval: 2 seconds

Should I stream 1080p60 immediately?
Only if your hardware and upload are stable; 720p60 is better than unstable 1080p60.
